WHY Subwoofer Cables?
Subwoofer cable is different from other speaker cables because it has the vital job of producing substantial bass response and minimizing hum. Hum comes from interference from power chords, fluorescent lights, etc. and can cause a disruptive and constant buzz at around 60 Hz which is most audible in the subwoofer. The subwoofer cable usually diminishes this hum by double shielding the wire. To improve low-end response, solid core bass conductors are used instead of the thin copper stranding of typical speaker wire.
