WHY Home Theater Subwoofers?

The Home Theater Subwoofer is the part of a surround sound system that is dedicated to all of the lowest frequencies that the other speakers simple cannot support. The sound of thunder, explosions and jet engines are all handled by the subwoofer. It gives realism to the sound effects that require frequencies below 120 Hz. They are larger than the other speakers and can be placed virtually anywhere within your surround listening area. If it is positioned close to a wall or corner, the bass response will be increased. This may or may not be desirable depending on your listening preference. Move it around until you get a good balance of bass and clarity.
