JBL Speakers
JBL Speakers has a long line of quality sound and style in the audio industry. For some fifty years, this manufacturer has been recognized by audiophiles everywhere and deservedly so. JBL is an American audio electronics company owned by Harman International that was founded in 1946 by James Bullough Lansing. Their primary products are loudspeakers and amplifiers. There are two independent divisions within the company: JBL Consumer and JBL Professional. The former produces audio equipment for the home market while the latter produces professional equipment for the studio, installed sound, tour sound, portable sound and cinema markets. While Harman International does not break out the sales figures of their individual brands, it is believed that JBL is one of the largest, if not the largest, selling loudspeaker brand in the world.
JBL has become more mass market in their consumer loudspeakers throughout time. On the other hand, they have also staked out a position at the highest end of the consumer field with their Project speakers, consisting of the Everest and K2 lines that were particularly successful in foreign markets. They greatly expanded their presence in the professional field and audio enthusiasts throughout the world swear by their products. JBL has become the dominant supplier to the tour sound industry, with their loudspeakers being employed by the largest touring rock acts and music festivals. Additionally, JBL products were the basis for the development of THX loudspeaker standard which resulted in JBL becoming the premier cinema loudspeaker manufacturer. The portable sound market was largely established by JBL with their Cabaret product line and continues to be dominated by their Eon series. JBL was equally successful in the installed sound market with their Control series.
JBL continues to command a leadership position in the audio industry. In the home market, they produce a full range of products, from low cost iPod accessories to $30,000 per pair statement JBL speakers. In the professional field, they dominate virtually every market segment and maintain the prestige position as evidenced by the 2005 Technical Grammy awarded to JBL for being “… preeminent in high-end loudspeaker technology for all facets of professional sound since its formation in 1946.”
Recently, JBL was awarded multiple titles in car audio at the 2007 Spring Break Nationals held on March 24 and 25, 2007. Their MS-8-equipped BMW 325i, built by Harman Consumer Group’s Gary Biggs, took quite a sweep at the event. Winning a number of awards including top honors in the IASCA ISQC and MECA SQ Extreme classes, JBL’s MS-8 equipped BMW was also given the MECA PHAT SQ award, the highest sound-quality score of the entire event. JBL continues to receive recognition for their car audio and home audio systems. With carefully constructed designs and a firm belief in realistic sound reproduction, this manufacturer works hard to keep JBL a household name in audio.
JBL speakers are always pushing to the forefront in innovative audio solutions. Their Creature II Computer speakers, have a futuristic design and a traditionally solid sound quality. Retailing for $130 and under (some online retailers have killer deals on these), the JBL Creature II is certainly unlike any conventional computer speaker you have ever seen.
JBL’s products are
not just creative in design; their sound quality is well known throughout the
business as being quality and lots of audiophiles rave about their products. Their JBL Professional Series lsr4326p Studio Monitors, have created quite a buzz in the online audio community. With stellar sound quality, clean lines and a reasonable price considering the features this speaker comes with, JBL has succeeded, once again, in the perfect blend of style and sound.
JBL is a globally recognized manufacturer and distributed worldwide in almost every audio store. JBL recommends that you purchase their products through an authorized dealer, which can be found on their website.
