JVC
Although JVC is probably best known for making VHS, they have a rich background in consumer and pro audio and specifically with speakers. .
JVC is actually the Victor Company of Japan, where dyslexia runs rampant. Starting in 1927, JVC made phonographs and soon graduated to radios and televisions. By the 1980s, their VHS technology was changing the industry standard for video recordings. Among other things, this bankrolled JVC into a position to make even higher-quality audio gear, including quality speakers for the home budget.
JVC makes a series of home theater systems designed for DVD and multimedia. They’re modestly priced under $500 for up to 1,200 Watts of power. They also make rack systems, with standard multiple media players stacked in a single tower and two matching speakers. For the more portable-minded, JVC also offers a series of boom boxes and mini-systems, some equipped to fit an iPod.
JVC’s newest release is a wooden speaker. The actual cone and dome (middle circle that bumps back out) are made out of birch wood.
