Yamaha has their hands in everything from motorcycles to a line of high-performance loudspeakers for live stage, the studio or for home.

Yamaha makes a great line of home speakers that includes a range of towers, surround packages, powered subwoofers, in-wall speakers and outdoor speakers.  Their in-wall speakers are mounted in a rectangular plate, as opposed to mounting the speaker directly to whatever is above your ceiling.  For the home owner who wants to make a lasting impression on his or her guests, Yamaha makes a whole surround system in one enclosure.  It’s not 5.1, but with the grill removed, up to 42 little speakers deliver an impressively special sound.

For the musician or live producer, Yamaha speakers can serve a very competitive alternative to the companies that make loudspeakers exclusively.  They make both active (amp built into the speaker enclosure) or passive (just the speaker in a box) for mains, floor monitors and subs.

For the producer and studiophile, Yamaha monitors are legendary from one speaker: the NS-10.  This became popular for using the speaker as a microphone, especially for capturing the low ends of kick drums.  Any passive speaker can be used as a microphone, but the NS-10 was particularly handy.  Today, Yamaha’s studio monitors are precision cabinets at reasonable prices.
