Pioneer
Pioneer manufactures high quality home, car, and business audio and video products. The company was established in Tokyo, Japan in 1938. Founder Nozomu Matsumoto had a passion for music. He envisioned spreading this joy around the world through excellent audio speakers. He began his business by building and refurbishing speakers in his garage. Today, Pioneer is an international company and its first U.S. office opened in 1972 in the Empire State Building.
The company decided against joining other companies in expanding videocassette records. Rather, Pioneer focused its attention on developing the LaserDisc. Today, Pioneer is a leader in DVD and Blu-ray Disc technology, and it commands the professional DJ equipment industry.
Pioneer’s home speaker line includes audiophone reference loudspeakers, 3-way vented box systems, ISO-drive bookshelf loudspeakers, in-wall speakers, direct/diffuse surround speakers, and more. Prices range anywhere from $169.00 to $9,000.
Pioneer combines a 5.1 receiver, surround speakers and a powerful subwoofer in all its home theatre systems. The company launched its new HTS-GS1 home theatre system. This complex surround sound system is licensed for the Xbox 360. It includes high power 6 channel digital amplification, Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1 Surround sound processors, Auto MCACC with microphone calibration technology, Sound Retriever DSP, and remote control.
