German company MBL (Akustikgerate GmbH) is sure known for their radial omni directional speakers. Their flagship speaker MBL 101E is considered by many as the most open air three-dimensional speaker ever built. For some, there is no other competitor in reproducing classical music.
Meet the pure German blood audio speaker totem MBL 101x (xtreme). What makes the 101x such a special beast? It has two of the drivers from MBL 101E, which are suspended and inverted one above the other one. Two special drivers are mounted on the special resonance free platform made from the combination of aluminium, steel, acryl, wood and carbon fiber material. Radial speaker design is mounted in a way that practically almost lets the driver float into the air. The cone of the speaker is made out of special metal material that expands and responds to the changes from electrical current, which is sent over from the amplifier. The speaker’s drivers respond to the sound in a different way than normal traditional 2 way speakers. Two-way speakers move air just into one (and back) direction. The MBL 101x radiates the sound to the whole space around them.
There is a separated bass driver box for each speaker. Whole manifestation really looks almost scary. While 101 E was one box speaker system, 101X offers separate boxes. This is helping in achieving even deeper and more controlled bass, more synergy.
And the price? Well, you won't get German audio Aston Martin cheap. This is the technology that must be paid for. It will find your way home for just $180.000.
