ELAC is a well known German speaker company that has been trying to bring the highest possible sound quality to customers since the early 80’s. Over the past two and a half decades, ELAC has been pushing the envelope in sound reproduction and their performance at the 2007 IFA Show in Berlin was no exception.
This year, ELAC presented new crystal membrane speakers— the industry’s first crystal shaped membrane speakers to date. Their Crystal Membrane 240 Series brings extraordinary transmission range and eases the process of building and tuning the crossover.
The crystal shaped surface of aluminum helps in omitting sound coloration. The voice coil is joined not only to the neck of the usual paper cone, but also to the end of aluminum dome; this helps to expand the transmission range by almost an octave.
ELAC only uses custom in-house drivers or special custom made drivers. All of their bass and midrange drivers are completely new and manufactured at ELAC. The Crystal Membrane pairs nicely with the Company TT 180 woofer driver, which can handle up to 1.5 cm of long gain stroke. For a driver of such a size, this is engineering at its finest.
The Crystal Membrane 240 Series looks as extraordinary as it sounds; the uniquely crystal shape sparkles against the dark finish. This is certainly a chic speaker that will add an air of class to any room.
ELAC has once again succeeded in pushing their competition into action. The Crystal Membrane 240 Series pressures manufacturers to search for new, innovative ways to bring sound to the next level.
