Those in the audio world may have come across the highly praised 40k
FH system, consisting of the FH001, FH002 and FH003 (bass unit, tweeter unit and
amplifier), in past shows. While this complete system is well respected by many audiophiles, it does come with a hefty price tag. Thankfully, the same manufacturers of the 40k system have come out with a new addition to their line, the FH007, which according to managing director and chief
designer Tim Hill, has the same essentials as past models but retails at a much more reasonable price.
The cut down cost of the FH007 does not come at the expense of design. The horn design that the FH007 has often offers an easier solution to provide coherence over the audio spectrum while keeping the mechanical impedance matching. The special oval shape used was designed over a long period of experiments with different shapes of plastic speaker chassis. The forward axis gives a smooth shape for wound pressure audio waves. Oval chassis were used over circular shapes to offer a more non-resonant structure. Driver units were custom designed and took more than twelve months to fine tune to the highest standards. Tim incorporated skills derived from his aeronautical experiences and 25 years of know how building and designing hi-fi and acoustic guitars.
All of the well thought out solutions provided in the FH007 bring high volumes at minimal power and allow the power amp to work in pure Class A conditions. This ensures the highest quality of audio reproduction.
The result of this new product is a piece that will not only produce minimal amplification at high volumes while operating in fine tuned conditions, but also a quality speaker with parts that will last over 10 years. Retailing at only $1000, this piece is truly a financially feasible and quality product worth consideration.
