These speakers suit a home or office environment best.
Imac users should be pleased— these little speakers match perfectly. These cool, little creatures look flawless on desks, but like most purchases, we should not only buy them for their looks.
The design is not bad, although the subwoofer is not as small as its counterparts. While their shape is tasteful, they do not always fit as nicely as square or rectangular speakers often do on desks. The smooth and shiny surfaces are pretty to look at and their unique shape, while not the most practical, still makes quite a statement. The down firing green LED lights also add a nice touch.
With all of this said, however, the design could use a little work. The treble and the bass knobs for example are a little on the weak side. They should be sturdier so you don’t have to worry about them falling off. The power button, which is located at the back of the subwoofer, should be modified and placed more conveniently.
While most people have not mentioned any issue with sound quality in small, one room environments, there has been some indication of trouble with the feedback heard on PCs; this does not seem to happen all of the particularly when using them with other devices like iPods.
For the most part, however, the sound quality of these speakers is very good, especially when considering the price point. The bass is solid and there is no tinny sound that you typically get from most computer speakers.
One of the best features of the JBL Creature II 3-Piece Powered Speaker System is the ease of installation. You just have to plug and play and you are set— It really is that simple. There is only one thing that you have to be careful of when you are hooking up these speakers, and that is the connections; be sure to push them all the way in. Sometimes they look like they are seated correctly, but make sure to give them a little extra push to make sure. If the speakers are still not working, unplug them and try again.
In the end, it is not the sound quality that brought the stars I gave the JBL Creature II 3-Piece Powered Speaker System down, it was the design and practicality of the overall system.
