Logitch x-230 2.1 are quality speakers that don’t stretch your wallet.
Logitech x-230 2.1 speakers have an extra headphone jack so you can listen to your music at loud volumes without waking up your household early in the morning. This also lets the kids play their noisy games without driving you up the wall (…that’s what had me sold!).
I’m a big fan of the way the speaker stands rotate. This is a great addition to the design and I wish all speakers would make use of it. It allows you to reposition the speakers easily whenever you need to.
The driver is small but the bass is still pretty powerful on the Logitech x-230 2.1. However, the peak is lower than with more expensive speakers, like the HK Soundsticks II, and there are times when you may want to lower the volume of the subwoofer so you can hear some of the sounds more clearly. You can do this easily by just turning the sub knob. Unfortunately, the knob for sub control is at the back of the speaker, which is a pain to get to.
I’m not complaining about the bass quality of these speakers at all, especially since they’re cheap computer speakers that truly sound wonderful. For the average computer listener or gamer, these speakers do wonders. Even when the bass is turned way down, these speakers do a great job. That says a lot about quality.
There’s an important element of the Logitech x-230 2.1 speakers that you MUST be aware of before you start using them. The sub is not, and I repeat… not video shielded. This means if you put it next to your monitor, you’ll get yourself into a heap of trouble. The instructions say to place the sub down below, away from the monitor. Unless you’re up for shopping for a new monitor, I suggest you do exactly as they say!
When setting up your Logitech x-230 2.1, you need to be careful. The plugs are very delicate, they have tiny pins that can break off or bend if you’re too rough with them while setting up. Your best bet is to line everything up (the pins with the holes) before you push on them. That way, things go where they’re supposed to and they stay in one piece.
The Logitech x-230 2.1 speakers are good quality computer speakers and the price is hard to beat.
