Great studio monitors with all kinds of neat technology at work that will breathe new life into your studio work.
This bi-amplified system builds on top of the foundations of
JBL’s proprietary LSR technology. Linear
Spatial Reference technology is a leader in studio reference monitoring and the
LSR28P utilizes two new JBL LSR transducers: 218F 8” low frequency and 053Ti high
frequency. Both of these bring new life to the studio.
There are other transducer technology innovations that are
something to hear. For example there is the Differential Drive technology as well as
the carbon fiber composite materials. These too work to redefine precise
monitoring systems in a big way.
This type of forward thinking technology has redefined how a
sound reproduction system can output and instead of the simple on-axis
frequency system, the LSR technology incorporates carefully calculated techniques
that measure the performance of a speaker over a sphere that focuses and
envelopes all energy that is radiated in each and every room that the amplifier
is present in. By harnessing this
energy, the listening environment is analyzed algorithmically through a
technique known as the psycho-acoustic principle that calculates a complete and
accurate optimization strategy of the sound field, thus allowing the best
possible sound output.
The entire outward appearance of the titanium-composite
diaphragm tweeters allows for handling of high frequencies and improves
transient response, reducing distortion especially at the low volume end. This
provides not just excellent audio output but also makes the inward components
function to their full potential.
Though all of the above is great none of it means that the JBL
LSR28P studio monitors are perfect. Some may not want to have these monitors as
their main near-field monitors due to the fact that they tend to sound rather
big. These are not puny speakers by any stretch and their bass can be a little
overwhelming at close range, not distorted at all, just well…big. They are much
more suited to mid field than close.
The JBL LSR28P studio monitor is perhaps one of the nicest
and most effective monitors when you want to be able to push the monitor to the
brink of performance without damaging the entire system. This is a monitor that can handle just about
anything that is thrown their way.
