The Good
Models from such well known brands such as Klipsch, Bose, and JBL. Prices are low and hard to beat. Warranties are honored. Shipping stays consistent across the board— just $1.
The Bad
Not a speaker retailer so customer service is limited in their answers to technical questions. They do not have a large stock of merchandise available which makes shopping very much a crapshoot. Cannot be sure as to where the speakers originally came from.
The Verdict
While perhaps not the ultimate audio electronic retailer out there, Overstock.com offers good quality speakers and the $1 shipping fee is hard to resist. The site is easy to navigate whether you are purchasing or just browsing.
Much to our amazement, Overstock.com actually carries products from Klipsch, Bose, JBL and Premier. While the prices are not exactly bargain basement, they are heavily discounted. When we checked out the site, we found a pair of Premier Acoustic 4.2 Speakers for only $199. This is an incredible 63% discount from the speaker’s listed price of $549.
The site is easy to navigate thanks to the search button feature. The product descriptions are not exactly technical reviews, but as long as the products are advertised and the $1 shipping charge is maintained, there is little to complain about. While their stock fluctuates due to the amount of products they sell overall, the search for speakers is genuinely fun and along the same lines as spotting a treasure at a garage sale or on a clearance rack. Overstock’s return policy is very generous as they have a 30-day return period on most items as well as a credit grant of up to 50% of an item’s value for most products returned after 30 days.
Our experience with Overstock.com was uniquely enjoyable. With such a wide range of products, the site’s personality is hard to come by. The overall selection of name brand speakers is exciting. While the technical information is lacking due to the site’s abundance of goods, speakers are well priced and the site’s return and shipping policies are definitely reasonable.
