The Good
Shop.com allows you to shop in several internet stores at once while loading up just one cart. It covers pretty much every category you could want to spend your money on and services hundreds of internet shops.
The Bad
There is limited product information here and kind of a random smattering.
The Verdict
It is cool that you can shop from several stores at once with one secure checkout, but it lacks the attention to detail when it comes to product description that you might find at any one particular store that they service.
Shop.com makes use of a data aggregator to provide and internet mall for its users. When you search for an item, it searches hundreds of internet retailers and generates a list of stores that carry that product. A nice feature for comparing prices, but best used if you know exactly what you want. The product descriptions are limited at Shop.com and you would be better served to investigate the sites that they reference for more complete information. Since Shop.com searches a variety of stores, you will find a lot of different speakers represented here. As with most of these large stores, you won’t find too many highly specialized models, but there are definitely a few.
Shop.com uses something called “OneCart” that is essentially a universal shopping cart that you use to collect items from several different online retailers. Shop.com backs up this service with a satisfaction guaranteed or your money back policy. This is a beneficial service because you need only one account to shop at hundreds of different stores and if any one of those stores screws up, shop.com will give your money back. There is no option to order by phone, but there is email and phone customer service. They accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express cards.
In general Shop.com is probably the kind of store you would go to if you know exactly what you want because you won’t get much information here. They have plenty of speakers, but it is not directed at an audiophile audience or any specific audience for that matter. They list a lot of stores, but certainly not all of them so there are plenty of things that are left out.
