The Good
Shopping.com will list all the stores for a specific search item so that you can find the best possible price. There are useful products details and when you are ready to buy, it links directly to the appropriate retailer.
The Bad
Although there are some items that you can buy using your shopping.com cart, most items are purchased through alternate websites, so this isn’t exactly a one stop shop.
The Verdict
This is a great way to comparison shop. There is a fair amount of decent product information and direct links to the sites where you can buy products. It is a powerful aggregator and generates a large number of choices.
Shopping.com isn’t exactly a store; it’s more like a search engine that is neatly organized by price. It is meant to save time for consumers by providing efficiently sorted lists of all the different stores that carry any specific item. This is a great way to comparison shop on the internet. Surprisingly, for a store that isn’t really a store, there are plenty of good product descriptions and both consumer and expert reviews. I was able to find The Infinity Beta 50 Main/Stereo Speaker for $278.89 at a place called 50TopSelleres whereas I was easily able to view Amazon.com’s price which was $498.99, so by using shopping.com, I can save some cash. I searched for several brands of speakers and most, but not all of the came were found. Some of the higher end manufacturers such as Harbeth or Vandersteen were not represented.
Usually, when browsing shopping.com, if you want to buy something, you will be directed to the store that is selling that particular item. These transactions are marked by a blue “buy it” button. There are, however, some products that you can buy using a shopping.com cart. These are labeled with a green “buy it” button. When using the shopping.com cart, Mastercard, Visa, Discover, America Express and Paypal are all acceptable modes of payment. The return policy is dependent on the each individual store’s return policy.
An Ebay company, Shopping.com is a great tool for buying on the internet. Not only do they find the best possible price, but they provide lots of pertinent information on the product and even reference related articles about shopping and choosing the best options. For Instance, when shopping for speakers, a whole list of links is generated including “#1 Rated Speakers,” “Subwoofers,” etc. This is definitely a great way to shop as it puts an exceptional amount of information at your fingertips.
