Dependable as a superstore should be with over a thousand actual store locations. The speaker selection is quite good with many models varying in price and application.
Mostly targeted towards mid-range products, there is nothing too specialized or extravagant. Their prices are generally fair, but with a little digging, you can sometimes find much better deals at other stores.
Target has a great selection of speakers at typically reasonable prices, although not always the lowest price. With an extreme range of products, it might be the only place where you can buy thousand dollar Bose Home Entertainment System and a jeweled Isaac Mizrahi collar for your dog.

Target
Ever since the new round of Target advertising campaigns took hold of our psyches a few years back, the store has emerged as a force to be reckoned with. It is kind of thought of as a sophisticated department store and they actually peddle quite a few models of speakers at their site. Almost five hundred varieties to choose from, they are mainly but not entirely suited to home entertainment. Although a select few M-Audio studio monitors and several Sony Dreamcast systems were available, I couldn’t find anything by Yamaha, Epos or Genelec so this not the place to go for studio or super hi-end, but definitely good for portable, home entertainment and novelty. This is first place where I have found penguin, monkey and furgle (?) speakers.

For internet department store, I was impressed with Target. Their large inventory and clean design was quite appealing.
